Timothy Spurlock is the co-founder and CEO of ADTC: Solutions for Skilled Trades—a disruptive force in workforce development for the infrastructure and transportation industries. Frustrated by the inefficiency, cost, and inertia of traditional educational systems, Tim and his co-founder, Chris Ellis launched ADTC in 2017, to offer a faster, smarter, and more effective path into high-demand skilled trades careers. Under Tim’s leadership, ADTC scaled nationally and become one of the largest producers of diesel technicians—and the largest producer of truck body repair technicians—in the United States. Since 2017, the company has trained thousands of graduates now working at hundreds of partner companies, including some of the biggest names in transportation, logistics, construction, and HVAC and data center services. Many of those graduates have gone on to hold leadership roles in their organizations. Today, ADTC is more than a training company—it’s a full-service talent pipeline provider specializing in recruiting, onboarding, program development, and training across industrial maintenance verticals, including HVAC, power generation, data center equipment repair, building maintenance, and off-highway sectors. ADTC combines media, workflow automation, consulting, and data to deliver workforce solutions with measurable ROI for employers. ADTC’s cornerstone 180-240 hour programs have been evaluated by third-party Industry data scientists, who found they produce the same caliber of graduate as a two-year community college or a 15-month technical post-secondary school. In 2024, ADTC launched an afterschool enrichment program in New York City—modeled after its industry training programs—in partnership with Thomas Edison Career and Technical High School and The Heckscher Foundation for Children. Graduates of this program have been hired by Penske Transportation Solutions and Vertiv. In August of 2024, due to the success of both diesel and truck body repair programs, Penske Transportation Solutions acquired both programs from ADTC and ADTC exited the diesel and truck body repair verticals. Tim’s work is driven by a simple but powerful belief: millions of Americans are stuck in low-wage, low-skill jobs but could thrive in skilled careers—if given the right opportunity and support. ADTC exists to unlock that potential. ADTC has been featured in The New York Times, Harvard Magazine, Soledad O’Brien’s Matter of Fact news show, and numerous trade publications.
